As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work on the MLIR/LLVM based TPU compiler for novel processors that accelerate models relying on embeddings found in recommendation models. You will have an opportunity to collaborate with the compiler stack working on low-level details in LLVM as well as the MLIR middle-end. You will be responsible for supporting new workloads and new TPU hardware across multiple generations, as well as optimizing for new models and new characteristics.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $185,000-$283,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
- 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- 5 years of experience with performance, systems data analysis, compilers, or debugging.
- Experience with LLVM or developing optimizations in LLVM.
- Experience with optimizations in mid-level and low-level architecture.
- Experience with mentoring or managing engineers.
- Experience with debugging correctness and performance issues at all levels of the technical stack.

Responsibilities
- Develop the TPU compiler across multiple generations and proactively identify ways to improve code generation, and leverage new hardware features.
- Implement new hardware features in the compiler and assist with hardware/software co-design.
- Improve the compiler stability and speed.
- Work on performance analysis by developing new tooling and finding new opportunities, as well as design new performance optimizations in the compiler.
