Job Title: Manufacturing Production Engineer
Location: San Diego, CA - Onsite
Responsibilities:
Looking for a motivated Production Engineer to join our team to help support operations with the assembly, test, certification, and shipment of our optical, resistivity, and thin-film thickness measurement systems. The successful candidate will work on diverse problems supporting the production team:
Address in-process issues with concise troubleshooting of Optical, Mechanical and Electrical Assemblies
Monitor 1st pass yield rate and work closely with the Manufacturing Engineers to improve processes and reduce cycle times
Monitor rework and scrap rates and propose solutions to reduce scrap and improve yield.
Review failure analysis reports to validate root cause analyses and identify design, procedure and process solutions to mitigate them
Interface between the Technician and the Engineering teams as the 2nd line of support. Escalate issues based on production priorities and build plans
Support the Manufacturing Tool Team in maintaining our internal tools. Evaluate new tools to improve productivity and reduce issues
Identify bottlenecks and define action plans to eliminate blocking issues in production
Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operational sequences, and processes that increase efficiency and output while reducing waste and costs
Monitor yield and cycle times, establish metrics, and analyze deviations from normal trend.
Work with the Quality team and report incoming and in process material quality affecting cycle time and productivity
Create, execute, and refine build sequences related to system assembly, integration, calibration, and certification. Evaluate the manufacturing effectiveness of build processes and implement improvements to meet build cycle times and product design specifications.
Drive efforts that address product-level issues including supplier quality issues, manufacturing escalations, and characterization or improvement projects.
Analyze manufacturing data via statistical process control to drive process, specification, and design improvements.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s or advanced degree (desired) in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Manufacturing/Systems Engineering or Physics/Materials Science. A proven track record of success across a range of industries and products a plus.
