CNC Machinist/Programmer

CNC Machinist/Programmer - Reading, PA
We have an immediate opening for a CNC Machinist at our 621 Brentwood Drive Facility.
Hours 6:30 am - 3:00 pm Monday thru Friday
Develop CAD/CAM programing using SolidWorks, Master Cam etc., for use in the machining of specialized tooling for injection molding, thermoforming and/or other tooling used in the manufacturing of plastic parts. Conduct setup and machining using manual mills, lathes, grinders and CNC Machining Centers as necessary. Duties may include correcting and improving existing CNC programs for quality and efficiency targets and assisting with new project development.
Essential Responsibilities:

• Conduct setup and machining using manual mills, lathes, grinders and CNC Machining Centers as necessary.
• Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates. Able to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T)
• Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
• Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.
• Proficient with MasterCAM 3D CAD/CAM software to complete all needed programming tasks with 4th or 5th axis programming.
• Proficient with SolidWorks - Current Version
• Observes operation of machine and inspects parts to prove programmed instructions.
• Performs part inspection with common measuring tools (i.e. tape measure, micrometer, calipers, etc.).
• Performs all work procedures in accordance with safety and ISO Standards.
• Effectively communicates with Tooling Department Manager to review work schedule and status of assignments.
• Part of a team driven to identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions, driven to constantly improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
• Provides programming support to all CNC setup technicians.

Essential Skills:

• Trade school diploma required or 2+ years college in a technical discipline. MasterCam 3D cad and cam required.
• Experience with 4th or 5th axis programming.
• Robotic programming and CMM experience.
• CNC Programmer Certification

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or managers and employees of organization.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts including fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Must be familiar with using MS Office and Outlook.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
