Overview
  • Avanti Command Center Quality Assistance BizOps team is looking for a Reliability Engineer who combines strategic thought leadership skills, a strong development & automation background and sound business judgment. As a Site Reliability Engineering Lead, you will actively contribute to the day-to-day planning, design, execution, and reporting of resiliency testing.
  • You will also bring industry experience and "outside in" thought leadership to discover new opportunities, drive efficiencies in testing and to influence future Chaos Engineering standards and best practices.

  • This will be achieved though defining & implementing practices in Resiliency Engineering, Automation, Observability & Chaos Based Testing while also engraining a proactive Resiliency Culture that thinks reliability first design.
  • Quality Assistance comprises of a team of passionate experts dedicated to deriving and implementing site reliability practices across a number of key workstreams, including, Observability, Resiliency, Engineering and Operations.
  • You will have accountability for delivering strategic change across a diverse set of applications, technologies, and squads.
  • We are engaged from the beginning of the analysis and design phase to work with the application teams and other critical teams within Mastercard to ensure the completed infrastructure and application architecture aligns with Mastercard's security, scalability, reliability, and availability standards.
  • We then take those requirements and develop resiliency tests in partnership with peers to ensure successful execution and validation against a modernized and integrated environment.

Major Accountabilities for this role:
  • Responsible for reviewing requirements, conducting infrastructural analysis, and ensuring the design meets all Mastercard's technology and security policies.
  • Responsible for meeting with peers, engineers, application team(s) and user(s), to determine that all the high-level requirements have been met.
  • Responsible for assessing Technical Architecture Documents, technical memos, logical flows, and models to keep the users, architects, and the engineers constantly up to date and in agreement on the architecture and infrastructure layout of an application, system, or platform.
  • Responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting chaos execution and validation across all impacted application infrastructure components while leveraging current standards and best practices.
  • In charge of resolving architectural and operational problems impacting the Stable Stage Environment infrastructure and product availability and performance used for chaos testing.
  • Leads and collaborates to achieve the definition of new standards.
  • May assume lead and total accountability for ongoing regional chaos testing executions as assigned; including responsibility for planning; time: resource utilization and implementation.
  • May contribute to incident/problem diagnosis and root cause analysis.
  • May provide input into performance tuning; capacity planning and configuration management for Mastercard components.

Education (preferred):
  • bachelor's degree in computer sciences, or Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • Obsessed with understanding end to end transaction flows and integrated components.
  • Proven track record performing resiliency testing to build confidence in the platform's capability to withstand turbulent conditions in production.
  • Possess an architectural mindset with proven ability to review architecture to derive Resiliency Strategy and expose vulnerabilities.
  • Experience working with standalone applications and across E2E Customer Transactions (multi app)
  • Possess an automation mentality to drive scalable Resiliency approaches.
  • Hands on Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure)
  • Familiarity with modern container services (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Experience working with Web Services and Databases
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD Engineering
  • Strong understanding of Quality Engineering
  • Strong understanding of Performance testing tools
  • Strong understanding of Observability tooling (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, Kibana)
  • Strong understanding in API testing tools (SoapUI, Postman, Soatest)
  • Understanding of Agile Methodology
  • Understanding of Test Tool Transaction Simulators (e.g., T3)
  • Use of Chaos engineering tools preferred (e.g., Gremlin)

Pay Range: $75/hr - $80/hr
The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
