The Role

This role interacts with Architecture (Transport and IP), Planning, Operations, Lab, and Systems (NSD, alarming) to implement equipment and designs necessary to evolve the worldwide Internet backbone. It needs the ability to research and write requirements to test hardware and software to ensure interoperability and validation of features, functions, and behavior. It applies advanced engineering and network principles, theories, concepts, and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and issues. This position interacts with and drives vendor requirements, resolution of bug fixes, code upgrades, and vendor development as necessary. It also resolves difficult production/interoperability problems by working with cross-functional teams and applying advanced engineering and network principles, theories, and concepts. Regarded as a subject matter expert and may act as a technical project lead or provide leadership for lower-level employees. This role needs self-motivation with problem-solving capabilities, a sense of urgency, and accountability.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Telecommunication Equipment Installation Guidelines
  • Creates detailed wiring and engineering diagrams in CAD/GIS-based systems.
  • Train Field Installation teams on installation best practices for Inside Plant and CPE equipment.
  • Recommends next-generation AC/DC power plants, general iron/framework, ISP/OSP cabinets, and ISP/OSP fiber cable and equipment, including technical evaluation, economic benefit justification, and approval through senior leadership.
  • Articulates and coordinates new product introduction to peer business and technical organizations.
  • Project manages new product introduction through initial installation phase and Tier 3 support for AC/DC Power plants issues.
  • Performs data analytic meantime between failure (MTBF) studies on equipment performance and recommends remediation course of action. Also, authors high-level and low-level equipment policy documents and policy/procedure installation documents.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree or 7 years of equivalent practical experience.
  • Highly knowledgeable of DC and AC power principles and the NEC code.
  • Proficiency in NEBS and OSHA is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of Telecommunication protocols: TL1, SNMP, and CLI.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Drafting skill proficiency in CAD-based systems, Canvas, AutoCAD, and Visio preferred.
  • Ability to be a strong individual contributor and work in a highly functioning team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Versed in cloud document storage programs: Sharepoint, Wiki, Teams.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$104360 - $139140 in these states: CO

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
