Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • 5 years of experience in embedded systems and machine learning.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • 3 years of experience in machine learning, computer vision, data infrastructure, and/or secure stack (e.g., secure world, Android or equivalent kernel, userspace).
  • Experience delivering complex projects, managing product expectations, and making binding calls on shipping various features.
  • Experience with biometrics, including the current landscape and implications.
  • Experience leading large teams across multiple time zones and domains.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the development of biometric and sensor technologies. You will interact with multiple organizations in Google and have the opportunity to explore new technologies and user experiences. You will directly manage, influence, and supervise multiple functional teams.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

  • Direct the engineering effort for biometric and sensor teams. Manage an existing set of products in biometrics and sensors, ensuring quality and timely releases, in addition to planning short-term improvements.
  • Develop the multi-year evolution of this space to position products and teams in the right spot at the right time. Navigate a complex space on the intersection of research, software, and product.
  • Set and communicate team priorities that support the organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
  • Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
