Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging

DescriptionThe Mechanical Engineer Manager is responsible for the team to designs automated packaging platforms and supporting systems to enable faster and more efficient delivery to Amazon's customers.The primary role of the Mechanical Engineer Manager is to provide technical leadership,ownership and refinement of the packaging platforms and automation systems. Working with the Electrical and Controls teams, the Mechanical Engineer will execute the design and manufacturing of Amazon's in-house packaging machinery and automation.Key job responsibilitiesManage and lead the Mechanical Engineering teamCollaborate with cross-functional engineers to design and execute packaging machinery and automation projectsLead the mechanical design work-streams, including modeling, load/bearing calculations, and 3D/2D designEnsure project documentation is complete and scalable for manufacturingSupport safety certification of projects/platformsParticipate in meetings to optimize for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainabilityAbout the teamThe Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team develops automated solutions and sustainable packaging across Amazon's operations, focusing on customer experience and waste reduction.Basic QualificationsExperience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures5+ years experience managing and leading an engineering teamBA in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering8+ years packaging machinery design experienceProficiency in 3D design and simulation software including but not limited to Ansys, Creo, Catia, SolidworksPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalentExperience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to productionExperience with the project management of technical projectsPLM, GD&T, and manufacturing process knowledgeUnderstanding of packaging machinery safety standardsOperations experience in a manufacturing environmentAdvanced simulation expertiseAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
