Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and innovative Avionics Design Engineers to join our team in the Avionics Design Center developing the next generation of avionics system for Boeing aircraft. As an Avionics Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, responsible for designing, developing, and integrating advanced avionics systems across our commercial airplane programs. Position Responsibilities (Level 3):
- Hands-on development work across a variety of avionics teams, platforms, and systems. Development will include logic and architecture.
- Navigates technical ambiguity. Learns about new systems and architectures, and applies expertise to make decisions about the appropriate tools and processes to employ.
- Define avionics system specifications. Participate in requirements management, traceability, and validation processes. Creates and executes detailed test plans to verify requirements are met.
- Collaborates with multi-disciplinary design and leadership teams to integrate avionics systems seamlessly into aircraft platforms.
- Scopes work and clearly communicates status, risks, and roadblocks. Partners with program and team management on risk assessments, project plans, and technical strategy.
- Utilizes and applies Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to speed innovation, increase operating efficiencies and assist in development, integration and certification of complex systems.
- Ensure avionics systems adhere to relevant regulations. Prepare necessary documentation, including compliance reports, test reports, and certification packages.
Work Authorization:
This position is expected to be Hybrid with 3 days a week onsite.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelors of Science degree or higher with a demonstrated background/experience in an engineering discipline, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
- 3 or more years of experience as a design engineer working with complex systems.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5 or more years of engineering experience.
- Experience as a designer, implementer, or user of avionics equipment (commercial or military).
- Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical topics and perform engineering analysis and trade studies.
- Experience with testing, modeling, analysis or Simulation.
- Familiarity with development assurance, ARP4754A, processes for development of complex aircraft systems.
- Self-starter with an exceptional focus on delivering quality results in a timely manner while challenging the status quo.
- Strong communication skills around complex, technical issues, and the ability to effectively present to myriad audiences.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
