Junior Materials Developer

The Junior Materials Developer will assist in fabric and trim development for Travis Mathew Women’s line. This position will work closely with the Design, Development and Material Sourcing teams to understand, interpret and execute all seasonal fabric and trim developments that meet all aesthetic requirements and are in line with sourcing strategy and cost targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with Design, Merch, Development & Sourcing teams to develop Color & Prints for in season fabrics for Women’s line.
  2. Execute seasonal developments (lab dips and prints) into bulk ready fabrics that meet Travis Mathew fabric quality standards and adhere to the timelines, sourcing strategy and costing targets. Identify potential issues in manufacturing and make recommendations to mitigate risk.
  3. Track lab dip and print submissions, developments, pricing and approvals in PLM system.
  4. Meet key deadlines for all developments, adhering to the seasonal Design and Development calendar and ensure approvals, documentation and clear communications to all vendor partners to meet sampling deadlines.
  5. Attend scheduled team and milestone meetings as needed.
  6. Maintain all development files, reports for documentation, follow-up, tracking and seasonal recaps.
  7. Show consistent progress season over season in development initiatives and become the company expert in specific material categories.
  8. Understand each new fabric and its limitations and capabilities in order to guide design team for future season development and usage.
  9. Be the TravisMathew “expert” to vendor and mill partners in relation to fabric development for M&D and create valuable relationships with partners.
  10. Develop seasonal trim items including Buttons, Labels, Zippers, Metal hardware and other trim as needed.
  11. Files and maintains organizations of lab dips, strike offs and trim developments of season.

  4. Working knowledge of fabric construction standards and manufacturing process.

  6. Ability to make oral and written presentations; ability and confidence to present opinions and thoughts in a clear, unbiased manner.
  7. Ability to manage change and shift priorities based on evolving business requirements and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  8. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills; especially when it comes to working directly with senior level directors.
  9. Ability to communicate effectively to a globally diverse vendor base.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or technical trade school and/or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of 1 year experience in material sourcing and development.

Travel: Local and international travel is expected for this position.

26.54 - 33.18 - 39.81 USD Hourly
