This is a Senior R&D Engineer position located in Richland, MS.

Job Summary:

Within the High Voltage Products Business Unit (BU), the Technology Center (TC) North America is responsible - as part of a global R&D organization - for the development and optimization of high voltage equipment for electrical substations. You will report to the R&D Team Manager, and work on an innovative line of high voltage grid components, focusing primarily - but not exclusively - on Instrument Transformers. You will put your unique technical knowledge and collaboration skills in different technology and product development workstreams, with the aim to continuously improve quality and reliability, as well as to introduce innovative and cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in international R&D projects aimed to introduce new products.
2. Perform a variety of technology and product development assignments requiring advanced and innovative techniques, meeting project specifications on quality, time, and cost.
3. Provide technical support to business operations in meeting customers' needs timely and effectively.
4. Identify and implement short and long-term solutions, and ensure that products and processes are timely updated across the affected business network.
5. Provide technical support in improving production processes and tools, and qualifying new suppliers for critical components.
6. Define and maintain technical instructions to support those processes.
7. Contribute to the development of strategic technology plans and project portfolio in own organization.
8. Identify Intellectual Property (IP) risks and opportunities in own activities.
9. Trigger and support IP management and protection processes in collaboration with the IP organization, including invention disclosure and patent search activities.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or similar education.
2. Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
3. Good knowledge of CAD software and 3D modelling, with preference to PTC Creo or similar.
4. Experience in product development of electrical products is a strong plus, preferably high/medium-voltage instrument transformers.
5. Knowledge of PLM systems, with preference to PTC Windchill or similar.
6. Good documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
7. Strong ability to interact with cross-functional teams in an international working environment.
8. Proactive approach to multi-disciplinary problem solving.
