Introduction
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiring a Storm Water Engineer in the Division of External Services at the Entry, Senior or Advanced level depending upon qualifications.
This position could be headquartered out of the Fitchburg, Dodgeville or Horicon offices, depending on space availability and the location of the selected candidate.
Remote work may be available for a portion of the work week, after the initial onboarding period.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the implementation of the municipal (MS4), construction, and industrial stormwater programs in accordance with Section 1251-1387 of the Clean Water Act, ch. 283, Wis. Stats., and chs. NR 151 and 216, Wisconsin Administrative Code. The position is responsible for technical engineering review and engineering support for the construction, municipal, and industrial stormwater permit program, as well as engineering review and approval of stormwater projects and assistance with engineering review of grant applications related to the urban planning and construction nonpoint grant program and the state targeted runoff management grant. This position provides support for the Department's alternative water quality compliance approaches and TMDL implementation.

Salary Information
Starting pay for Entry level is between $31.18 to $35.50 per hour (or $68,854.40 to $73,840 annually), in addition to excellent benefits. The classification title is Water Resources Engineer and is in pay schedule/range 14-14.
Senior level is between $36.00 to $43.54 per hour (or $74,880 to $90,563.20 annually), in addition to excellent benefits. The classification title is Water Resources Engineer-Senior and is in pay schedule/range 14-13.
Advanced level is between $44.00 to $49.57 per hour (or $91,520 to $103,105.60 annually), in addition to excellent benefits. The classification title is Water Resources Engineer-Advanced and is in pay schedule/range 14-13.
In addition, there is $2,080/year added to your base salary for holding a Professional Engineer (PE) license, whether it is held presently or acquired in the future. A PE is not a requirement for this position.
This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Travel: This position will require travel throughout the assigned geographic area for meetings, trainings, or to provide program implementation support and may require minimal out-of-state travel.

To be minimally qualified applicants must meet (and provide appropriate documentation of at least one of the below requirements:
Have graduated or will graduate by time of appointment from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in a related engineering field such as civil, chemical, electrical, environmental, or mechanical engineering; OR
Registration as a Professional Engineer as determined by the Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.04, Wis. Stats.; OR
A specific record, issued by the professional engineering section of the Department of Safety and Professional Services, showing 4 years or more of experience in engineering work of a character satisfactory to the professional engineering section and satisfactory completion of the fundamentals of engineering exam; OR
Have equivalent professional training and practical experience so as to be deemed a professional engineer as defined in Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.01, Wis. Stats. and also deemed to be qualified to engage in professional engineering practice as determined by the Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.03, or 443.04, or 443.05, Wis. Stats.
