Position Summary
Pterodynamics is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the design, development, and test of electrical systems
as part of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary R&D team. These systems would include aircraft harness design,
development and assessment of electrical motor propulsion systems, aircraft power management, RF and
antenna testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Evaluation of existing electrical systems, components, and applications through testing and implementation
- Issue diagnosis, root cause analysis and repair
- Identifying functional gaps in existing systems and determining solutions
- Feasibility studies for new technical requirements/projects
- Design, build and test of electrical components and systems
- Author electrical diagrams, system maps, interface control documents
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years experience in design of electrical systems for aviation
- Proficiency in Altium, KiCAD, or similar PCB design software
- Experience with first article testing of newly designed components
- Experience creating/modifying code for testing/debugging new systems
- Proficient with operation of electronic instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and logic analysers
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Workspace software
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux-based operating systems
- Experience using Python tools and language
- Flexibility and an aptitude for learning
- Ability to work through out-of-discipline and novel problems as an individual or part of a team
- US Citizenship/Permanent Resident Status
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Experience with embedded systems design and testing experience
- Experience with troubleshooting individual components and full system integrations
- Experience tailoring documentation for different audiences
- Familiarity with brushless DC motor design and motor control
- Familiarity with RF principles and antenna design
- MATLAB and/or Python experience
- Experience interfacing with customers and suppliers

Compensation
Salary range: $95,000 - $120,000 annually DOE
