Position Overview:
We are seeking a Junior Energy Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist with energy audits, compliance with New York City energy regulations, and work on energy modeling to support our consulting efforts. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is passionate about energy efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct energy audits for multifamily, commercial, and institutional buildings in compliance with Local Law 87 (LL87), Local Law 97 (LL97), and other relevant energy regulations.
- Perform energy modeling and analysis to estimate energy savings and identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements.
- Support energy code compliance efforts, including conducting on-site inspections and collecting data for benchmarking purposes.
- Assist with preparing reports for clients to document energy audits, retro-commissioning, and compliance with local laws.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in local laws and regulations related to energy efficiency and building performance.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to implement energy efficiency projects.
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders to explain audit findings and proposed energy-saving measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in energy auditing, building performance analysis, or energy efficiency consulting (internship or co-op experience may be considered).
- Knowledge of New York City energy laws, including LL87, LL97, and LL84 benchmarking.
- Familiarity with energy modeling software such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for sustainability and energy efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits.
- EIT certification or plans to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license in the future.
- Knowledge of utility incentive programs and financing mechanisms for energy efficiency projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
