We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Manager, Basketball Software Engineer with the Basketball Strategy Department. This position will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of cutting-edge software solutions for the basketball operations department. In this role, you will manage a team of software engineers and collaborate with basketball personnel to create innovative applications that enhance player performance, scouting, analytics, and overall team success.

What Will You Do

  1. Lead and inspire a team of software engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster their professional growth and maximize their potential.
  2. Set clear goals and expectations, allocate resources effectively, and establish efficient workflows to ensure timely delivery of software solutions.
  3. Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the team, encouraging knowledge sharing and adherence to best software engineering practices.
  4. Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of basketball-focused software applications, ensuring high-quality and scalable solutions.
  5. Collaborate with basketball operations staff to understand their needs and requirements, translating them into technical specifications and innovative software solutions.
  6. Drive the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system architecture design to coding, testing, and deployment.
  7. Utilize your technical expertise to provide hands-on contributions to the development efforts, including coding, code reviews, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  8. Define project scopes, timelines, and resource requirements, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  9. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure successful and timely delivery of software solutions.
  10. Communicate project status, updates, and risks to key stakeholders, providing transparency and fostering collaboration.
  11. Collaborate closely with basketball operations staff, data analysts, and video coordinators to integrate software solutions with existing systems and processes.
  12. Ensure seamless integration of software tools for player performance analysis, game planning, opponent scouting, and other basketball operations areas.
  13. Collaborate with external vendors and technology partners, managing relationships and leveraging their expertise to enhance software capabilities.

What We Need From Our Software Engineer

  1. Strong technical proficiency in software development methodologies, languages, frameworks, and tools such as Node.js and React.js.
  2. Knowledge of JavaScript, SQL, cloud platforms, and version control systems.
  3. Proven experience managing and leading software engineering teams, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  5. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
  6. Solid understanding of basketball operations and analytics, with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance player performance and team success.
  7. Experience with basketball-related software applications and platforms is a plus.

Experience/ Education Requirements

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, including substantial experience in designing and delivering complex software solutions.

  5. S-Sedentary Work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
  6. Position is predominately computer-based, requiring the use of a computer monitor.
  7. Must be able to carry on a conversation both on the phone and in-person.
  8. Ability to Read, Write & Speak in English.
