Position Summary:

About Team:
On the Item and Inventory team, we ensure our customers get their orders when and where they want them, in a frictionless, predictable manner. We create reusable SaaS products and services that manage our catalog and power end-to-end inventory management, including replenishment, fulfillment, and transportation.

What you'll do:

  • Create and maintain the product technical architecture, aligning it with business goals and scalability requirements.
  • Design and oversee the development of scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems that can handle high volumes of data and traffic.
  • Design data processing pipelines and frameworks to efficiently ingest, transform, and analyze large datasets.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms, including databases, caching, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Work with teams to execute on a data mesh strategy.
  • Establish and maintain the product architecture capability map.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct proof-of-concepts and provide strategic & technical recommendations.
  • Stay at the forefront of technological advancements.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document architectural decisions and best practices.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum BS degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of software development experience with 5+ working as an enterprise architect.
  • Proficiency in Java or other modern programming languages.
  • Thorough understanding of Domain-driven Design (DDD).
  • Experience in Microservices architecture, Data Mesh Architecture, and Cloud Native Architecture.
  • Firm grasp of System Design and building highly reliable systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Contract First/Design First Software Development.
  • Broad knowledge across data engineering, data governance, and cloud services.
  • Expertise in Web Services (REST), API Design, and Containerization Technologies.
  • A clear vision for architecture design and great communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen to bridge technical and business priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in computer science or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
