Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field, Agile experience preferred, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's STEM degree.

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

We have an immediate opening for a Sr IT Software Engineer .  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Professional and experienced understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories and skilled at applying technical standards
  • Familiarity with Agile Framework
  • Understanding of common development frameworks and processes
  • Self starter and quick learner - ability to learn in group settings and independently
  • Desire to consistently evolve and learn. Capable of "finding the answers" through research and state reasoning
  • Transparently shares knowledge and source code using common source code management tools
  • Familiarity with popular cloud frameworks
  • Understanding of the concepts of "Infrastructure as Code" and "Platform as a Service"
  • Experience using containers, IDEs, Terraform/Terragrunt, and Git preferred
  • Conceptually understands the value of CI/CD DevSecOps practices
  • Very solid knowledge of the software development process and handling of Proprietary Information
  • Very solid ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle ever increasing responsibility and assignments with growing complexity
  • Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with little direction
  • Exercises independent judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Very solid ability to be a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success, meeting and exceeding personal and team commitments
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and responsible, and able to master solid decision-making skills
  • Skilled at learning and applying company policies and procedures to resolve more complex issues

  • Very solid ability to use the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products

NOTE: This position can be supported remotely via teleworking.

Note: The compensation information listed is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

If performed in Colorado, this position has a salary range of USD $85,000.00/Yr. - USD $105,000.00/Yr.
