Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis LLC a world class supplier of power generation services, parts and repairs, has an immediate opening for a qualified individual who has a desire to join a growing organization and an appetite for diverse and technically challenging work.
As a CNC Machinist Apprentice, you will apply knowledge of mechanics, shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to set-up and operate a variety of computer numerical control machine tools to produce precision parts. This is a full-time day shift position for a period of approximately 1 year which, upon qualifying as Machinist C, the selected candidate will then be placed in a 1st or 2nd shift role depending on where there is a need at that time.
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of math and instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machine work.
- Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
- Enter commands to store or retrieve part programs, graphic displays, or programs that transfer data to other media.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Read work orders and/or production schedules to determine specifications, such as material to be used, location of cutting lines, and dimension and tolerances.
- Start and run machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
- Adjust machine speeds and actions, according to product specifications.
- Maintain a clean, safe, working environment.
- Support other areas of the shop as needed.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 0-2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations within the area.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objective.
- Ability to read and use related quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
- Good organizational skills
- Understanding of lean and 6S safety in a manufacturing environment
- Good computer skills
