Java Developer I - Kansas City, MO - Fulltime/Permanent

This position provides software development services by producing superior quality software using well-defined approaches to software problem-solving and software development best practices.
This position works with engineering peers, Technical Leads, Architects, and other Stakeholders translating product vision into overall satisfying and innovative solutions.
Responsibilities:

- Continually upgrade knowledge by tracking new releases, feature sets, and work-arounds for existing problems.

- Work to be a generalist while extending background and experience in prevalent technologies in wide use today, with an awareness of new emerging ideas.

- Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
Required Experience:
- Expert in Linux and related technologies.
- Experience with Maven and Git is desirable.
- 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
- Excellent programming skills in Java. Background in Spring MVC / Spring Boot and GWT is preferred.
- Agile experience with Scrum and/or Kanban, BDD, and TDD.
- Experience writing Unit, Functional, and Protocol level tests.
- Experience writing Documentation including technical specifications, test plans, whitepapers, and internal documentation.
- Equally comfortable working with Windows, Mac, or Linux environments.
- A demonstrable and sincere passion for solving complex problems and business challenges.
- Experience with SQL and popular RDBMS databases such as MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience in creating test scripts in languages such as Python.
- Experience with defect tracking systems such as Serena and JIRA.
- Proactive mindset, anticipating problems and challenges before they appear.
- An ability to explain complex technical concepts to the non-technical and to provide training in the tools administered.
- A demonstrable ability to work quickly while maintaining quality.
- A demonstrable ability to show continuous improvement in abilities, quantity of output, and quality of deliverables.
- Strong personality in setting expectations and not being satisfied unless they are exceeded.
- Demonstrable ability to come to the right solution without being encumbered by trying to adapt what they have done in the past.

Education Required:
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
