The Data Center Infrastructure Operations organization is looking for an individual with proven skills to help support our Facility Operations Center. The Facility Operations Center is responsible for 24X7 monitoring of the data center’s physical infrastructure. This team will ensure that the customer experience will be optimal and gratifying by way of consistency, reliability and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of Infrastructure, have proficient computer and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assistance and support to the onsite operations teams. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess an active Top Secret security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements.

The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities

1. Able to properly respond, acknowledge, investigate, and dispatch critical alarms
2. Monitor the facility infrastructure platform

6. Have an intermediate level of understanding of critical infrastructure

8. Required shift-work, overtime, and/or rotating schedules to support a 24X7 environment (Rotating shift work equates to weekends, nights, holidays and overtime shifts)

A day in the life

The Facility Operations Center (FOC) serves as the centralized 24/7 remote monitoring center for AWS data center’s critical physical facilities infrastructure systems. We support availability by assisting internal teams in communicating prompt and accurate alarm and event notifications. The FOC ensures safety across all AWS data centers by enforcing Change Management policies and is the communication hub during emergency and normal operations.

About the team

The Facility Operations Center (FOC) is a singular support team which proactively monitor the life-safety systems and the infrastructure equipment alarms (e.g., chillers, temperature sensors, generators, UPSs, Catcher, switchgear, breakers, PDUs, and ATSs) that provides power and cooling to the platform on a 24x7x365 basis. We support Data Center Engineer Operations teams who are responsible for the operation of infrastructure equipment. Our role is to ensure that critical alarms are properly Responded to, Acknowledged, Investigated, and Dispatched (RAID). Additionally, the FOC serves as a communications hub during both standard and emergency operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3+ years of technical support experience, or Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
2. Experience documenting technical customer issues
3. Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
4. 1+ years of customer facing IT role or physical security systems/infrastructure work experience
5. Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
2. 3+ years of customer service experience
3. 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
