Roles and Responsibilities

  • Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment.
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of casting processes, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to propose and execute different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Identifies and executes capital expenditures.
  • Leads projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
  • Collaborates with Design Engineering to improve casting producibility (existing and new product introduction).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in casting related process experience (preferably equiax castings) + Minimum of 3 years of (casting related process experience (preferably equiax castings)
  • Minimum 2 years of casting related process experience (preferably equiax castings)
  • Knowledge of wax, soluble, and ceramic core die design to the extent required to convey requirements to tool design resources.
  • Familiarity with RP pattern usage in an NPI environment (SLA, printed wax, etc.)
  • Functional process knowledge of equiax casting processes (wax inject, shell slurry formulation, mold wrap, pre-heat/pour temps, post-cast processes, heat treat, NDT's (FPI/Xray))
  • General understanding of process capabilities of an equiax casting foundry to provide direction to design engineering during NPI (New Product Introduction) environment(s)
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Ability to manage multiple and concurrent projects
  • Excellent communication skills (both internal and external customers)
  • Experience with high temp alloys (INCO 625, INCO 718, Rene 41, etc.)
  • Ability to utilize available data to identify project focus areas to improve product yield, lead time, cost, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, when necessary
