Job Requirements / Description

The Electronic Technician will work directly with Manufacturing and Quality to isolate and resolve product issues, test equipment and process related failures. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot Printed Circuit Board Assemblies to the component level using schematics and standard electronic tools.
Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform failure analysis and fault isolation to the component level.
  • Repair/Update production assemblies as needed; document non-conforming materials.
  • Ensure Company Quality standards are being met.
  • Support test system configurations and act as first line of support for manufacturing test.
  • Assist in deployment of test equipment, fixtures and systems into production.
  • Work from schematics, system diagrams, written and verbal instructions to perform testing, troubleshooting, environmental testing, and other Quality department tasks.
  • Perform component level repairs using IPC610 standards for SMT and Through Hole technologies (IPC610 Certification or equivalent experience preferred).
  • Develop, write, peer review and update test procedures.
  • Support the maintenance and calibration of Polara test equipment and fixtures.
  • Work directly with Quality Manager, Test Engineer, Manufacturing and Design teams as needed to support continuous improvement for all products.

Requirements
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education: Bachelor's degree or training.
Minimum Requirements
Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Electronics training or experience equivalent to two years technical trade school or military technical school (Associates degree preferred). Two years of direct manufacturing support experience including automated test equipment, problem solving and root cause analysis. Experienced using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and issue tracking database tools (JIRA and Syteline are a plus). Demonstrates an understanding through applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, and electrical testing. Ability to read and interpret product specifications, schematics, mechanical drawings. Sets up, operates, and adjusts test sets and auxiliary equipment. Proves tests and test sets. Assists in the designs for, and performs the debug of test fixtures, test cables and other test equipment. Designs and lays out circuitry for test fixtures to interface products to bench testing and specialized automated test equipment. Updates test bed software
Equipment Used:
Uses normal and specialized test or diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus; hand tools and soldering irons; computers and software. Uses standard office equipment including Telephone, Computer, Calculator, Copier, Fax, Scanner
Physical Requirements:
  • Good fine motor skills. Able to handle very small parts with tips of fingers and/or tweezers.
  • Ability to work with a microscope.
  • Corrected vision to 20/20.
  • Able to work standing or sitting.
  • Able to bend at neck and waist.
