The Core OS organization is seeking an extraordinary engineer to work on the Process Management and Device Identity team. This team works on system services to orchestrate the lifecycle of running applications and system services, and on-device software to authenticate genuine Apple devices are in the hands of their owner. You should have a strong understanding of operating system fundamentals and experience working throughout the stack. As a member of the team, you would participate in all stages of software development, from new feature design and implementation, to maintenance and bug fixing of released code. You will develop and improve unit tests and performance tests, and may also work on diagnosing and resolving customer reported issues.DescriptionYou will primarily be responsible for system services (daemons) and frameworks that support functionality throughout the system. This role involves working on services to manage the on-device software to authenticate genuine Apple devices are in the hands of their owner. You will work on system services that interact with the Find My server team and on-device cryptographic key management. Popular Apple features such as Messages and FaceTime, and new features such as iPhone Mirroring will use libraries provided by you to establish trust in the hardware.Minimum QualificationsProfessional skill in a system software language such as C, C++, Objective-C, or SwiftStrong understanding of OS architecture and systems programming fundamentalsExcellent written and verbal communicationKey QualificationsPreferred QualificationsExperience in system services (daemon) and/or library developmentDevelopment experience on macOS, iOS, or other Unix-like systemProficiency in Python or other scripting languagesFamiliar with cryptographic concepts and techniquesA genuine passion for crafting compelling customer experiencesExceptional professionalism, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedulesCreative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skillsEducation & ExperienceAdditional RequirementsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
