Job Title: Product Manager - Automation Engineering

Location(s): Mclean, VA/ Richmond, VA

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Manager to join our team, focusing on Automation Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management, coupled with a deep understanding of automation technologies. You will work closely with a team of talented automation engineers to define and deliver innovative solutions that streamline processes, enhance productivity, and drive business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Product Strategy and Vision:
    1. Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for automation solutions in alignment with business objectives.
    2. Identify and prioritize opportunities for automation that align with customer needs and business goals.
  2. Collaboration and Leadership:
    1. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and customer support, to deliver high-quality automation products.
    2. Lead the product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  3. Market and Customer Insights:
    1. Conduct market research and gather customer feedback to identify pain points and opportunities for automation.
    2. Analyze competitive products and industry trends to ensure our automation solutions are best-in-class.
  4. Requirements Definition:
    1. Develop detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for new automation features and enhancements.
    2. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that requirements are well-understood and feasible within the technical constraints.
  5. Performance Metrics and Reporting:
    1. Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for automation products.
    2. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on product performance, including successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  6. Risk Management:
    1. Identify potential risks in the product development process and work with engineering teams to mitigate them.
    2. Ensure that automation solutions adhere to security, compliance, and quality standards.
  7. Customer Advocacy:
    1. Serve as the voice of the customer within the organization, ensuring that automation solutions meet or exceed customer expectations.
    2. Engage with customers and end-users to gather feedback and validate product ideas.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on automation, engineering, or related fields.
  3. Strong understanding of automation technologies, tools, and trends.
  4. Experience working with engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  6. Proven track record of successfully managing the product lifecycle from concept to launch.
  7. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  8. Experience in customer-facing roles, with a focus on understanding and solving customer problems.
  9. Technical background or hands-on experience in automation engineering is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience with cloud-based automation solutions (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  2. Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  3. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  4. Experience with data-driven decision-making and A/B testing.
