We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Engineer) to join our team, reporting to the Director of Manufacturing. This role will focus on maintaining and improving the reliability of our manufacturing equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to promoting safety, leading repair initiatives, and ensuring the production of high-quality paper products.


Key Responsibilities:

Safety :

· Ensure all maintenance work adheres to safety policies to maintain an incident-free environment.

· Assess equipment and projects prior to maintenance to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.

Legal and Compliance:

· Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations and codes.

· Identify and secure necessary professional certifications for maintenance activities.

· Confirm that all contractors possess the required certifications for their work.

Maintenance Oversight:

· Participate in maintenance activities, focusing on safety, compliance, quality, productivity, and cost management.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with key performance indicators (KPIs) and profit and loss (P&L) objectives.

· Collaborate with the maintenance team to foster a culture of teamwork and development.

· Assist in preparing annual maintenance budgets, monitor expenses, and report on variances.

· Work closely with the Purchasing department to optimize repair costs.

· Contribute to environmental stewardship and enhance knowledge of maintenance and operational machinery.

· Support the development of team members through training and skill enhancement.


Qualifications:

· Proven ability to effectively support maintenance operations, delivering on time and within budget.

· Strong understanding of internal customer needs and KPIs, with the ability to collaborate effectively.

· Knowledge of maintenance reliability principles and practices.

· Capable of working collaboratively within a team environment.

· Exceptional multitasking skills with the ability to meet challenging deadlines.

· A proactive approach with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.

· Willingness to learn and explore new systems for operational efficiency.

· Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.


Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.

· At least 10 years of experience in maintenance and engineering roles.

· Demonstrated engineering expertise with a focus on maintenance operations.

· Experience in team development and individual growth, adapting to business needs.

· Highly motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills.
