Within this position, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Firm's information system including researching/evaluating new products and implementing software that supports the Firm's business objectives. This position will be based in our White Plains and has a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.As the Senior Systems Engineer you will:Participate in large, complex projects involving the orchestration of tasks and/or implementation of various technologies.Resolve complex technical issues and conduct advanced-level research.Maintain a familiarity of industry concepts, best practices, and procedures.Develop technical documentation and participate in the establishment of security policies, procedures, and standards designed to align IT and firm business objectives.Coordinate activities associated with the installation of operation-level services.Provide strong hands-on trouble-shooting and installation skills.Provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems.Recommend alternatives to development and design in order to improve quality of products and/or procedures.Provide technical 24/7 third-level support.Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.Manage Firm resources responsibly.Comply with and understand the Firm operational policies and procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systemsWorking knowledge of server based operating systems and communications protocolsKnowledge of administrative best practices and methodologiesHands-on experience working with Microsoft Windows servers running IIS, DNS, and DHCPProficient in server virtualization using VMware ESX and knowledge of storage virtualizationClosely familiar with networking protocols including routing, switching, and TCP/IPPowerShell scripting and/or a comparative scripting languageMicrosoft Windows Active Directory design, implementation, and supportMicrosoft Clustering ServicesHands-on experience with MS servers working with Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)Working experience with modern authentication protocols and implementations such as SAML, OAuth, OpenID, and MFAExperience with industry-leading container technologies such as Docker and KubernetesExperience in deploying, managing, and migrating to industry-leading cloud platforms like Azure and AWS, employing both SaaS and IaaS solutionsExperience with Citrix desktop virtualizationExperience with multi-platform computing preferred (e.g. Unix, Linux)Foundational understanding of network concepts such as LACP, VLANs, QOS, and VPNsKnowledge of Cisco routers, UNIX, Network Management, and diagnostic tools preferredKnowledge of Exchange 2016 or later, and SQL 2012 or laterExperience with working in a multi-time zone Data Center environmentExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skillsAbility to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentialityAbility to organize and prioritize workAbility to work well independently as well as effectively within a teamAbility to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgmentFlexibility to travelFlexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needsEducation and ExperienceAssociate's degree or related job experienceMinimum of ten years' experience utilizing the above mentioned technologiesCulture & Life at SkaddenWhat makes Skadden special is our people and the culture, community and spirit of collaboration we have created.
