Senior Back-End Engineer

Job Summary:
In this position you will be a senior back-end engineer, implementing new features, squashing bugs, and helping shape the technical vision and strategy for all back-end engineering at Invaluable.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. You’ll create APIs and work with relational and NoSQL data stores, queues and other modern technologies to write performant, scalable, testable code.
2. Make architectural decisions as you build on our existing platform and create new product offerings.
3. Stay up to date on the latest trends and best practices in Back-End engineering.

Required Skills/Abilities:

1. Experience in application development using Java (8+) and Spring (Boot, MVC, Data, etc.), with an emphasis on performance, security and scalability.
2. Thorough understanding of API development using both REST and GraphQL.
3. Strong experience with relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server.
4. Experience with AWS cloud services such as Cognito, Lambda, etc.
5. Experience working with message queues (e.g. RabbitMQ), Familiarity with CI/CD (Docker, Jenkins).
6. A passion to produce clean, maintainable, robust, well-tested code.
7. Above all, you'll bring team play, a sense of ownership, a commitment to quality, intense enthusiasm and curiosity for technology.

Education and Experience:

1. BA/BS degree and 8+ years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
2. An ecommerce background with transferable skills would be an asset.
3. Demonstrated communication and time management skills.
