JOB DESCRIPTION
One of Insight Global's top Oil & Gas customers is looking to hire a DB2 Data Engineer to join their Financial Applications team. This resource will be responsible for developing and maintaining various applications on the IBM iSeries platform, utilizing dynamic SQL, temporary and temporal tables, commitment control, UDFs, performance tuning, logging and exception handling. This person will be helping out with a large re-design project of multiple RPG applications in DB2. He/She will be responsible for rewriting these applications utilizing SQL stored procedures, migrating their DDS structure to upgraded SQL DDL structure, and helping out with fixes during production. This person must be comfortable working onsite 2 days / week in their downtown Houston office location.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience with IBM iSeries
7+ years of experience with DB2 Expert SQL stored procedures development experience in DB2 IBM iSeries platform
Able to read RPGIV, RPGLE, RPGFree programs, embedded SQL
Conversion/modernization experience from RPG to SQL stored procedures in db2
IBM tools such as Aldon, RDI, ACS etc
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience working with financial data/financial applications
Experience redesigning RPG applications
Experience in the oil and gas industry Application development experience interacting with front end using REST APIs, Json, XML
Exposure to python, microservices, VS code IDE development
