Software Engineer II (Java)

In the Software Engineer II role, you will be an integral part of the growing Engineering team, responsible for developing the core backend capabilities that will have the largest impact on the experience of Stavvy’s users. You will have the opportunity to work on a product driving change in the mortgage industry by simplifying processes and moving towards paperless transactions. Specifically, this role will be a member of the team responsible for developing and working on a feature designed to help our customers work through mortgage forbearance. While this role can be fully remote, the Software Engineer II will be expected to work on East Coast hours.
What you'll do
- Write well-tested, scalable, production-ready code in Java.
- Develop back-end systems with Java APIs, keeping usability and experience in mind.
- Collaborate with our QA and development teams in order to fully create and understand the requirements for what is necessary to be produced; but this team is largely independent.
- Test and debug the code to ensure correctness and completeness.
- Improve functionality and stability of existing systems.
- Fully participate in agile team ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning, and standup.
- Work on special projects or other duties as designated by your manager.
Who you are
- Creative, skilled, and self-driven Software Engineer with 3+ years of back-end engineering experience with Java.
- Have an understanding of modern web infrastructure and architecture patterns.
- Experience building services in a cloud platform (AWS preferred).
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or some other SQL Database. Experience with DataDog and a strong interest in observability is a plus.
- Capable of writing complex backend code for a publicly accessible web application that can scale with the expected business growth.
- Experience in the SaaS space and startup environment is preferred.
- Committed to collaborative problem solving and sophisticated design.

Compensation
- The Boston based range for this full time position is $125,000 - $150,000.

- Stavvy is committed to competitive and equitable pay for all Stavviators. The listed pay range for this role is a good faith estimate of the hiring range for this position. Compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including an individual’s experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
