This is a temporary position for at least 6 months, with the potential for full-time employment for the right candidate.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design and ongoing support for the enterprise cloud productivity platforms, which includes voice systems, Microsoft 365 productivity suite, and other cloud based software technologies.
This role will focus on proactive management, configuration, and troubleshooting of Microsoft 365 services across all relevant modules to ensure seamless user experiences and optimal performance:
- Microsoft Exchange Online
- Microsoft Exchange hybrid on premises
- Microsoft SharePoint Online
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft OneDrive for Business
- Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- Microsoft Azure Active Directory
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of Microsoft 365 updates, new features, and enhancements. Recommend and implement improvements to optimize the use of Microsoft 365 services.
- Participating in the planning and implementation of cloud based solutions to ensure the business needs are met
- Experience with Microsoft 365 migrations, Intune, MDM, Autopilot and Teams Telephony
- Maintains documentation, technical schematics, and equipment configuration for proper record of systems design and recovery purposes
- Implements strategic application and security designs while following best practices
- Ensures maintenance of current environment and lifecycle management
- Prepares technical designs, project plans, schedule, resource, and financial estimates
- Works in large-scale infrastructure projects
- Develops roadmaps and identifies emerging technologies to meet business requirements
- Ensures asset inventory and technical schematics are developed and maintained
- Researches modern technologies, stays up to date on advancements in the field
- Oversees implementations, including setting schedules and change management
- Recommends continuous improvement, process improvement and automation to drive efficiencies
- Researches, develops, and implements new technologies and practices
- Resolves Level 2 and Level 3 incidents and requests
- Aligns technical solutions proposed align to IT Strategy and technical solutions
- Designs recovery and resiliency solutions, participating in Disaster Recovery exercises
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft 365 services
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and Exchange Online
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Deep understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and supporting infrastructure technologies.
- Strong scripting/automation skills such as PowerShell.
- Experience managing projects and communicating effectively with technical and non-technical users
- Experience in vendor management and technology evaluation process
- Demonstrated solid written and oral communication skills.
- Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision-making abilities.
- Solid self-awareness and a willingness to grow professional and technical skills
- Proven ability to work in a complex, fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Ability to maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced, team environment while managing multiple competing priorities
- Ability to work on-call or non-standard business hours as needed
- Industry certifications preferred (Microsoft, VMware)
- ITIL certification or working knowledge
