Substation Project Engineer

Roles:

1. As a Substation Project Engineer, provide engineering oversight on client substation projects.
2. As a Substation Project Engineer, represent the client and provide best-in-class service.
3. As a Substation Project Engineer, you will be involved with consulting on select projects where your expertise and guidance is requested.
4. As a Substation Project Engineer, provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested.

Responsibilities:

1. Represent client on substation projects and technical matters relating to assigned projects.
2. Perform quality reviews on client substation projects designed by contracted engineering firms, focusing on one-line and three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, communication schemes, physical drawings, and perform spot-check on wiring diagrams.
3. Verify projects are following all applicable client standards.
4. Provide guidance to engineering firms on projects.
5. Perform site visits when necessary.
6. Interface with client’s engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates.
7. Consult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice President.

2. Any need for meetings should be determined by the appropriate Project Engineering Lead and Executive Vice President.
3. Share knowledge and train oncoming Project Engineers.
4. Establish trust and healthy rapport with clients and contract engineering firms.
5. Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment.
6. Timesheet entries and expenses to be appropriately applied to corresponding projects and should be submitted weekly.

Education/Experience:

Minimum:

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university.
2. 3-5 years of experience as a Substation Engineer.
3. EIT Certification with the intention to pursue PE license.

Preferred:

1. PE License.

Travel:

1. 5-10% travel (project specific).
