Description:
A fast growing Semiconductor Distributor is immediately looking for a Field Applications Engineer to support their customers using Cavium Networks products. This is a high visibility, independent contributor position for uniquely qualified applicants.

In this position, you will provide pre and post-sales technical support to customers using Cavium Networks products with a focus on enterprise/consumer networking and security applications. This includes presentation of technical material at customer meetings, demonstration of embedded networking/security products, and software development tools. Must be adept at working with customers at all levels, performing technical discovery of customer needs, providing solution recommendations, and managing many customer engagements simultaneously.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of work experience in the field of 32b and 64b microprocessors & integrated SoCs (Preferably MIPS, ARM, or PowerPC).
- Previous experience in either a technical support engineering or FAE role is desired.

- Knowledge or Experience in:

1. Networking protocols, software, systems, and equipment.
2. C programming, troubleshooting, performance analysis in embedded systems environment.
3. OS internals, binutils, and C libraries in Linux, UNIX, xBSD, VxWorks, or similar operating systems.
4. GNU tool chain, gcc, gdb.
5. Device Driver/API development.
6. U-boot boot-loader porting.
7. Common microprocessor architectures and assembly language programming.

- Familiarity with:

1. Network security (IPSec/SSL) and/or Layer 2-7 applications.
2. Board bring-up practices.
3. Debugging tools such as EJTAG debugger tools and other test equipment.
4. High speed communications protocols and interfaces such as XAUI, SGMII, PCI-X, PCI-Express, Serial RapidIO, SPI4.2, Interlaken, DDR2/DDR3 SDRAM, etc.
5. Datasheets and electrical/mechanical parameters.
6. Ability to support and engage with customers from engineering to executive levels.
7. Willingness to assist in both simple and complex technical problems.
8. Organized, self-driven, and customer-focused.
9. Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
10. Diligent, detail-oriented, and willing to take initiative and handle assignments with minimal supervision. Inherent sense of urgency and accountability; able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
11. Effective interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills; able to interface internally and externally with all levels of the organization.

Applicant must be able to successfully work remotely, contact and follow up with customers independently; sometimes cold calling. Must be able to cross-sell other company products.
