Job Details:

Embark on a transformative journey leading the development of vital defense solutions and driving exponential growth in emerging commercial sectors. Take charge of owning and managing state-of-the-art electronic design automation solutions. Become a part of the Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE), a dynamic public-private partnership uniting leading semiconductor systems, defense electronics firms, national labs, and academic institutions. Our mission is to push the boundaries in critical semiconductor domains, including advanced packaging, with the aim of reestablishing U.S. prominence in semiconductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute primarily in an EDA capacity to building a development ecosystem that enables large and small to start-up companies to access the necessary tools and processes to design heterogenous integrated systems.
  • Work with the finance and general counsel teams to negotiate EDA contracts on behalf of TIE.
  • Create TIE based EDA flows to enable efficiently, optimized heterogenous integrated package designs.
  • Work with technology team to develop required process design kits (PDKs) and assembly design kits (ADKs).
  • Ensure outsourced circuit and package design companies deliver solutions compatible with industry standards and TIE requirements.
  • In collaboration with partners, lead research on design tools and systems that enable breakthrough EDA solutions.
  • Manage EDA tool costs.
  • Provide tool support for TIE design systems.
  • Establish design network for use by TIE and its partners when designing using the TIE network.
  • Attend EDA conferences addressing key TIE concerns.
  • Develop a TIE tool set that includes the capability to model electrical, thermal, and mechanical performance.
  • Build a team necessary to meet the demands of the TIE mission.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, computer engineering or other related discipline.
  • Ten years' experience in electronic design automation (EDA), including experience leading EDA teams.
  • Experience in all phases of semiconductor modeling (e.g., electrical, thermal and mechanical).
  • Experience with contract negotiation, particularly EDA contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EDA experience with 3D-heterogenous integration.
  • Experience working in a startup environment.
  • Experience applying for public grants.
  • Experience working for an EDA company.

Salary Range: OPEN

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed on-site in a scientific research environment, with dynamic work conditions and frequent interruptions.
  • Work outside standard office hours could be required on an occasional basis during peak periods and special events.
