Senior E-beam Electron Optics Engineer

Overview:

PDF is seeking a Sr. Optics Engineer in Electrical Beam Optics to drive the R&D, manufacturing, and delivery of state-of-art Electron Beam Inspection systems designed by PDF Solutions, eProbeTM, for use at 300mm semiconductor wafer fabs for yield ramp and manufacturing control. The Optics Engineer must be a highly motivated and self-driven team player with strong communication skills and possess the drive to deliver quality results on time in a dynamic, multi-discipline, intensive, and highly productive environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with PDF internal engineering team towards delivery of electron beam columns for next eProbe systems.
2. Simulate existing column designs under their full space range of operation. Match simulations to experimental data, refine model parameters of the simulation, and refine models of ebeam source.
3. Use simulation to drive new modes of operating the column e.g. with added lenses and deflectors.
4. Design and simulation in 3-D packages for non-rotationally symmetric column elements such as Wien filters and high-precision energy filters.
5. Hands-on work with PDF’s Ebeam tool for column characterization.

Qualifications:

1. Masters/PhD in Electrical engineering, physics, material science, or similar engineering field.
2. Strong experience in e-beam optics simulation preferably with Munro’s code.
3. Experience in any scripting or programming (e.g. Python, Java, C#, C++).
4. Experience with any data analysis package (e.g. Excel, MATLAB, R, JMP).
5. Good analytical and engineering skills.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills.

Other desirable Skills and Experience:

1. Experience or familiarity with 300mm semiconductor IC manufacturing.
2. Experience or familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment, especially ebeam and ultra-high vacuum equipment.
3. Experience specific to ebeam ‘inspection’ columns and, even more so, in ‘voltage contrast inspection’ column is very desirable.
4. Hands-on experience in bringing up new ebeam columns, ebeam guns, ebeam electronics, and ebeam test fixtures for characterization.
