Senior Software Engineer - TikTok Privacy Compliance Platform

The TikTok Privacy & Security Compliance Platform team is responsible for building easy to use and efficient tools for compliance work for our main users, including legal, data protection office, thousands of TikTok Engineers and TikTok leadership, etc. The team is working on TikTok's privacy protection-related projects, including Data Retention, Data Minimization, etc, and tools like DPIA, Privacy Objectives, Risk Management for legal/PDPO team, and aims to improve the user experience and efficiency of R&D's daily compliance task.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build software systems and applications to empower TikTok's capabilities in privacy control framework and risk management.
2. Collaborate closely with PM in the design of user-friendly and efficient platform functionalities targeted for privacy programs.
3. Drive privacy and data protection efforts and work cross-functionally with Infra, Product and Policy teams.
4. Explore cutting-edge privacy technologies to ensure data usage complies with local regulations.

1. Experience in Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, software design) and problem-solving skills.
2. Experience in object-oriented design methodology and strong software development skills and expertise in Golang/Python/Node.js etc.
3. Experience in requirements analysis, design, coding, and unit testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant applications.
4. Good communication skills.

1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 3 years of relevant experience in software engineering.
2. Strong product sense, with experience driving platform system from 0 to 1.
3. Experience with privacy systems.
4. Experience with privacy principles and laws, such as GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA.
5. Experience with privacy impact assessments and risk management.
6. Experience with implementing privacy by design and default principles in backend systems.

Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $184300 - $337250 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
