Program Engineer

Join Leidos and make a difference for our Federal customers in national security as a high-performing program engineer within the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Engineering and Technology Maturation. You will use and develop your engineering and program management skills in a team environment on a portfolio of research and development projects crucial to the national nuclear weapons stockpile.

Note: Must have an active DOE Q or active DOD Top Secret clearance to apply! This is a full-time contractor-support position that involves on-site work at the NNSA offices in Washington DC, periodic travel, and the opportunity for telework.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Providing Federal Program Managers with clear, concise, accurate and timely engineering analyses and information to support programmatic decision-making.
2. Tracking and managing Defense Programs, DoD, and Congressional actions and inquiries.
3. Responding to short-notice what-if inquiries from within NNSA, the Secretary of Energy, and other senior Departmental officials.
4. Providing program coordination for the NNSA to sites to address program and portfolio requirements and inquiries.
5. Developing program plans and briefings, and issue papers describing the project outcomes and benefits for meeting national defense missions.
6. Tracking and facilitating programmatic action items and deliverables to ensure timely submissions that meet program needs and assist the program office in running more effectively.
7. Monitoring and reporting to Federal staff the progress of project plans and solutions relative to schedule, and advising whether deliverables conform to customer requirements, quality control standards, and negotiated metrics.
8. Completing annual, quarterly, and other periodic reporting requirements at program reviews and meetings.

Required Education, Experience & Clearance:

1. Active DOE Q or Active DOD Top Secret clearance
2. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM field with 4+ years of related experience
3. Demonstrated history of using analytical strengths to inform strategic decisions
4. Independent, self-motivated and exhibits the highest standards of accuracy and organization skills
5. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and Teams

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in developing briefings for senior and executive management
2. Writing skills that are easy to understand, accurate and concise for a variety of audiences at various levels of program knowledge
3. Staff experience in military, government, corporate and/or interagency enterprise
4. NNSA staff experience
5. Knowledge of and experience with database software and PowerBI

Pay Range:

Pay Range $61,750.00 - $111,625.00
