The designer will perform drafting to construction drawings for transmission line projects with the guidance and assistance of higher level designers.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesUpdate plan and profile sheets and TGIS when transmission lines have been updated in the fieldUse Microstation and ArcGIS on a daily basis to achieve the best work productHelp Transmission Line Engineers prepare sheet sets for new linesDraft and detail drawings for medium to high-voltage electrical transmission lines with assistance of higher level graphics techniciansDraft and detail transmission drawings with guidance of higher level graphics technicians such as transmission line plan and profiles, transmission structure analysis and detailed design, transmission structure foundations, and transmission structure anchor detailsPerform a variety of routine assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components and refining rough sketchesProduce complete plans from verbal or written description from designersApply basic formulas, principles and practicesEducation and Experience RequirementsFive to eight years of experience drafting physical layouts, equipment layouts, plan views, elevation views, and section viewsFive to eight years of drafting experience using Microstation, AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, or PLS-POLEAssociate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer aided (CAD) design or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience and/or educationRequisite Abilities and SkillsBasic understanding of conventional drafting symbols and drafting methodsBasic understanding computer graphics and automated drawing methodsStrong written and verbal communicationDemonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessaryDemonstrate willingness and capabilities to assume leadership rolesAbout ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
