Project Manager - Java J2EE
Location: Long Beach, CA
Position: Full Time (Permanent)
Qualifications Basic:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
- At least 7 years of experience with IT.
- At least 7 years of hands-on software development and maintenance experience in the IT industry, with 3 or more years related experience in project management.
- Experience managing IT projects in J2EE technologies for new development, maintenance, and production support.
- Hands-on experience in customer IT application development and maintenance.
- Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and implement multiple, large and complex technical projects.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of projects.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making.
- Experience working in Agile and Iterative Development methodologies.
- Experience and desire to work in a Global delivery environment.
- Good Knowledge of CMMi Processes.
- Ability to coordinate with customer teams on a day-to-day basis.
- Ability to build and nurture relationships with various customer stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of 10 to 20 developers in achieving project goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Drive projects through all SDLC phases, from initial definition and estimation, through to production delivery and support.
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, with quality results that meet customer expectations.
- Follow consistent best practices for project management, and drive process enhancements in collaboration with the team and other project managers in IT.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure projects are planned and prioritized to meet business needs.
- Develop detailed project schedules, project estimates, resource plans, status reports, tracking, and reporting progress.
- Proactively manage scope, issues, and risks to ensure project success. Follow change control procedures effectively.
- Knowledge of architectural frameworks and design principles, provide inputs to the technical architecture, development team and conduct design reviews.
- Support the team in developing optimized high-quality deliverables, perform reviews in order to meet the defined quality SLAs.
- Manage client relationships at the portfolio/project level by engaging them regularly and be the ‘Single Point of Contact’ for the client.
- Perform periodic project reviews, milestone reviews, and relationship reviews with customer stakeholders.
- Review staffing/expansion requirements for current projects and plan/training team members for projects.
- Mentor team members and identify training needs to build domain/technical competency.
- Monitor performance of team members and conduct performance reviews.
- Proactively identify opportunities for expanding the footprint of services.
- Support on pre-sales campaign activities and events.
