Position Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of plant equipment and systems. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery, as well as implementing improvements to enhance equipment efficiency and reduce downtime. The Maintenance Engineer will work closely with maintenance and production teams to support operational goals and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment malfunctions and breakdowns promptly.
- Conduct inspections and maintenance checks according to established schedules and standards.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance technicians and production staff.
- Assist in the installation, calibration, and testing of new equipment and machinery.
- Develop and update technical documentation, including maintenance procedures, manuals, and safety protocols.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for equipment and process improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Implement and monitor changes to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Analyze equipment performance data and recommend modifications or upgrades as necessary.
- Project Management:
- Lead or participate in maintenance projects, including upgrades, replacements, and installations of new equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and other departments to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and company policies, including OSHA and environmental standards.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the maintenance team.
- Inventory and Resource Management:
- Assist in managing inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Work with procurement to ensure timely availability of necessary parts and materials.
- Track and report on maintenance costs and resource usage.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair history.
- Prepare and present reports on maintenance issues, project status, and equipment performance to management.
- Document and communicate lessons learned and best practices from maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. (Alternatively, a relevant technical diploma combined with significant experience may be considered.)
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in maintenance engineering or a related field within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
