RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will manage significant multi-discipline projects, with complete responsibility for all technical aspects of the projects.
  • You will prepare unique original concepts and preliminary and final design documents with regard to Navy crane user requirements, design codes, safety and cost effectiveness.
  • You will ensure proper integration of assignment with other Navy crane engineers responsible for the adequacy of related Crane Reliability, Improvement, and Safety Program (CRISP) features.
  • You will provide expert consultant services as it relates to Weight Handling Equipment to Navy military and civilian personnel.
  • You will manage the configuration of regional cranes to ensure compliance with Navy standards.

The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) if applying for the General Engineering position. Your license must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. You MUST provide a copy of your current license/registration with your application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not have an expiration date will not serve to verify this requirement.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. Applying knowledge of WHE (Weight Handling Equipment) electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering, operating conditions, and design approaches to provide expert advice on complex work assignments and work out effective compromises between conflicting requirements;
  2. Coordinating, planning, and executing WHE projects;
  3. Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and manufactures manuals and schematic instructions;
  4. Independently planning, organizing, and scheduling work to meet deadlines; and
  5. Making presentations and technical reports in oral and written form to management.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
