Fulltime with Hourly Rate: $35-42/HR
Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of components and assemblies of company systems and modifying existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations utilizing solid modeling software. Supports management of solid model data and product configuration management utilizing product lifecycle management data application.
Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Under direction of Core Engineering Supervisor, performs routine design of new mechanical or electromechanical components, subsystems, and systems by applying solid modeling techniques and basic engineering principles.
- Ability to create detailed component and assembly drawings of company systems.
- Utilizes Product Lifecycle Management application to create and upload solid model data and to complete requested change actions.
- Direct, assist and check component and assembly detailed drawings for production hardware and check complete layouts and specifications prepared by others.
- Perform tolerance studies and associated mathematical calculations.
- Under direction of core engineering supervisor participates in division configuration management activities including the general configuration management of division documents, drawings, and solid models according to company and industry standards.
- Supports the release of formal engineering changes within company Product Lifecycle Management application and communicates status of engineering changes by generating formal engineering change notifications.
- Participate in concurrent engineering with various company functions including stress analysis, manufacturing, product support, etc.
- Completes formal solid model and drawing requests for the organization.
- Other company/engineering related activities as required.
Mechanical Design Engineer Qualifications:
5+ years of related experience in drafting and design.
Associates degree or University degree with 2-4 years of college in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Experience using CATIA V5 or similar solid modeling software.
Basic knowledge of product lifecycle management tools, ENOVIA preferred.
Experience in an aerospace environment or similar industry.
Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to ASME Y.14.5M-1994.
Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
Proficiency with MS Office required.
