About the Team
Workday has launched an Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) Team to Transform and optimize the way Workday creates and shares trusted data to drive actionable insights and data led innovation across the enterprise. To enable this strategy, the ED&A team has worked with the business to identify critical business areas in which data and analytics can make a material difference in the execution of Workday’s strategic goals. Each of these goals is being organized as a data product with a dedicated multi-functional team to drive a diverse set of data management, governance, and data analytics to realize relevant, measurable business change.
As part of ED&A and enabling this strategy, the Enterprise Data Governance team drives the creation of policies, procedures, and operating models that will improve the overall quality and reliability of data across Workday in support of operational and analytical strategic business outcomes.
About the Role
The Senior Data Quality Engineer will support Workday’s analytics consumers to accelerate the speed of delivery and the trust of business in the analytics that they consume. Responsibilities include:
- Craft and build data quality assessment tools and frameworks to monitor and improve data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define data quality metrics, key performance indicators, and benchmarks.
- Lead the development of a comprehensive data quality dashboard, incorporating profiling metrics such as data completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, integrity, uniqueness and governance compliance.
- Develop and implement data governance strategies to ensure high data quality standards across the organization.
- Use data cataloging platform to manage metadata and lineage information for dashboards and reports.
- Analyze data quality trends and deliver actionable insights to internal customers to drive data quality improvement initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessment analysis to evaluate the impact of changes in metric definitions or calculations on other dashboards, implementing mitigation strategies to minimize risks and maintain data integrity.
- Ensure that dashboard lineage is deconstructed and documented accurately within the Atlan platform, including data sources, transformations, and calculations.
- Regularly review and update the data quality dashboard to reflect changes in data quality performance and organizational priorities.
- Collaborate closely with business functions and data governance team to define data certification criteria, validation processes, and certification levels for dashboard metrics and definitions.
- Develop and implement data governance processes to enforce data quality standards and optimal methods for dashboard development and usage.
- Work closely with internal customers and team members to ensure the accuracy and usability of data for new dashboards.
About You
You will thrive in this role if you are data driven and have a deep understanding of analytics, have a sense of creativity, and are not afraid to take risks or make decisions. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong analytics background and data-driven approach.
- Ability to optimally work with products owners, business functions and business technology (IT) to identify data quality issues and suggest monitoring capabilities.
- Experience with data governance platforms such as Atlan and Acceldata.
- Proficient in coding languages such as SQL and Python.
- Experience with Tableau, PowerBI or Sigma.
