As a Process Engineer you will become the technical subject matter expert of your zone. You will be expected to identify opportunities to drive out inefficiencies, and work with team members to execute on cross-functional projects to improve flow. To be successful, you will need a willingness to roll up your sleeves and step into unknown situations, ask questions, and use your resources to quickly break down complex challenges into achievable actions.
Responsibilities
- Actively apply the 5-Step Process: Question every requirement, delete any process or part you can, simplify and optimize, accelerate cycle time, and automate
- Analyze and optimize production processes to ensure safety and 5S while maximizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by cost effective means
- Consistently contribute effort, leadership, and creative thinking to innovate and solve complex issues under tight timelines
- Root cause analysis, and mitigation of failure modes via a systems-thinking approach. Interact with Quality and Design teams to contain, correct, and prevent reoccurrence of product quality concerns
- Lead the conversation and usage of structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) and Eight Disciplines (8D) working with your upstream supplier and downstream customer
- Create and maintain Manufacturing Instructions, HMI Images, and Routings
- Enable data driven operational and financial decisions through predictive insights into tool and process performance, including integration of data systems via MySQL, DBeaver, ZipLabs, JMP, Minitab, Python, and/or Ignition
- Continually monitor and reduce process variation using techniques such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
- Collaborate across disciplines including Engineering, Production, Test, Material Flow, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Experience to ensure efficiency and consistency across the organization
- Ability to support 24x7 factory, including flexible scheduling to meet critical milestones and drive business success
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems , or equivalent experience
- 2+ years in high-volume manufacturing or R&D manufacturing environment focused on process development, tool fixture design, and/or manufacturing process improvement
- Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to identify and drive non-standard solutions to solve for manufacturing constraints
- Creative capacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with the Tesla approach to revolutionary product development
- Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within a manufacturing, engineering organization, and external vendors. This includes excellent communication skills: written and verbal
- Design for Manufacturability experience, Poke Yoke, and elimination of risk by trialing of prototypes and design recommendations
- Mechanical Design background (Catia, SolidWorks, etc.) with hands-on project examples to show level of expertise
- Capacity to work in rapidly changing environment with minimal guidance, self-starter, yet team player
- Capable of managing two or more projects in-parallel involving cross-functional teams, while support daily just-do-its
- Fastening Experience (Torque to Yield Studies, Torque Trace Analysis, First Pass Yield Improvement Projects, Atlas Copco experience, Defect Detection) is highly preferred

$75,600 - $113,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
