Summary

Rowan Digital Infrastructure is looking for a Construction Project Engineer to support the construction of data center development projects for hyperscale clients. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth execution of construction tasks, driving project progress, and maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety throughout each project phase.


The successful candidate will have experience in construction project management, particularly in the data center sector or other mission-critical facilities. This role will work closely with senior managers, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client specifications.


Location

On-site in Frederick, MD.


Travel

Occasional travel might be needed for company functions and/or vendor visits.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and overseeing all phases of construction projects, from preconstruction to final closeout.
  • Work closely with Sr. Construction Managers to track and ensure project milestones are met.
  • Support the procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring all work is completed to Rowan’s quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and design teams to resolve any technical issues that arise during construction.
  • Monitor on-site activities to ensure safety and compliance with Rowan’s safety protocols and local regulations.
  • Track project costs, helping to ensure projects are completed within budget and flagging any potential cost overruns.
  • Support efforts with local authorities to obtain necessary permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support and/or oversee the Site Sustainability Program.
  • Develop daily site reports.
  • Oversee change order process in the field.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, submittals,
  • RFIs, progress updates, and final as-built documents.
  • Foster strong communication with internal teams, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
  • Assist in the review of construction drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with client needs and Rowan standards.


Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in construction project engineering, with a focus on data center development or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (such as Procore), scheduling tools (MS Project or Primavera P6), and document management systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to think critically and resolve construction-related issues in real time.
