We are searching for an inquisitive and technically proficient individual to help us decarbonize the built environment across all our client portfolios. The successful candidate will bring a practical approach to identifying the best solutions to help our clients reduce their carbon emissions and improve system performance.
The energy engineer position includes performing energy modeling, energy audits, conceptual MEP design and implementation of decarbonization solutions for new and existing buildings across all building sectors. This individual will also work closely with Project Managers (PM) and Senior Engineers for technical review and guidance.

Responsibilities :
- Perform calculations to determine energy savings for various design and energy renovation strategies
- Perform field investigation of base building HVAC and lighting related equipment
- Develop Building Energy Models using eQUEST, IES, Design Builder, or Energy Plus
- Establish BMS trends, deploy data loggers, and assess system performance and energy consumption interval data using spreadsheet-based tools
- Design and calculate heating and cooling loads for building systems
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop conceptual decarbonization strategies
- Draft reports and present findings to clients to establish recommended next steps
- Identify potential incentives for proposed retrofit solutions and on-site power generation/storage projects across markets and regions.
- Review and understand task objectives and requirements as communicated by the Project Manager or Project Engineer
- Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers to discuss future and or current projects
- Understand and demonstrate our core values
- Enhance the firm's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing internal and external client requests
- Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors
- Updates job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations and obtaining certifications in area of expertise and participating in the firm's Technical Committee, as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program or equivalent building science degree
- Between 2 - 5 years of experience with a consulting MEP engineering firm or similar
- Introductory understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry
- Introductory knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards
- Introductory working knowledge of BIM/Revit and AutoCAD
- Strong organizational, prioritization, decision making and analytical skills
- Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasive and interpersonal skills
- Ability to independently accomplish tasks and assignments to meet deadlines with supervision
- Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- FE/EIT designation is preferred.
- CEAIT or EMIT certification is preferred
- Certifications in areas of expertise
- Full Time Salaried Exempt Employee. Exempt employees are ineligible for Overtime Pay.
- Standard workweek is Monday-Friday
- Minimum 8 working hours/day (40 hours/week Monday-Friday) within the firm's hours of operation of 7:00a.m.-6:00p.m.
- Hybrid work schedule (some in-office and remote work) based on business needs.
- You may be required to work extra hours in order to meet client's demands and project delivery target dates.
- Travel to client meetings and worksites may be required on occasion.
