Highmark Health Senior Cloud Operations Engineer
Location: Juneau, Alaska
This job is a strong advocate of cloud technology and engineering support necessary to drive the organization's next-generation technologies. The senior level incumbent works to adopt, expand, maintain, and optimize cloud usage across the organization through engineering support of cloud technologies and through automation builds and related technologies. The incumbent owns support and engineering of cloud solutions and must stay current with new cloud offerings to continue to produce expected corporate results.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engineer & implement cloud-based technical architectures, migration approaches, deployment of cloud resources and application optimizations that utilize automation technologies and enable business objectives.
- Define cloud resource procurement and performance patterns through monitoring and tracking of usage and trends to optimize cloud spend & resource efficiency.
- Propose ideas, designs, and solutions to lead engineers and management to further cloud service utilization and optimization.
- Develop automation scripts and other repeatable patterns to enable application and service teams to deploy software and services into cloud environments.
- Perform research and analysis required for new cloud deployment proposals, existing cloud service modification, and other new cloud adoption to ultimately provide sound recommendations on best course of action.
- Level 3 Incident, problem and change management as it pertains to the responsibilities of the cloud operations engineering team.
- General mentorship, and periodic training of less senior Cloud Operation Engineers.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Cloud Computing, Computer & Information Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or closely related discipline.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Experience providing operational support of at least two of the following Cloud Service Providers: Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Amazon Web Services or Oracle.
- Experience producing code that is fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable.
- Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable cloud-based solution architectures through automation tools like Terraform or Ansible for example and versioning control via GitLab or similar tools.
Preferred:
- Experience with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management.
- Knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
LICENSES or CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- GCP, AWS, Azure or other Cloud Service Certification.
Preferred:
- Terraform, Ansible or other, similar tool certification.
SKILLS
- Demonstrates ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to speak and write English fluently and idiomatically.
- Strong scripting experience along with interest and ability to learn other programming languages as needed.
- GitLab or other versioning control tools and processes.
- Kubernetes or other Container orchestration technologies.
- Terraform, Ansible, or other automation technologies.
- Skills in infrastructure support, such as OS, Virtualization or Networking.
- Ability to communicate and present to other technology groups and leaders.
Pay Range: $78,900.00 - $146,000.00
