Position Summary:

The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing aerospace systems through the application of CFD techniques. This role involves using advanced CFD software to simulate fluid flows and thermal behavior around aircraft.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform CFD simulations on aerospace components such as wings, fuselage, engines, and other aerodynamic surfaces to evaluate airflow, heat transfer and pressure distribution.
  • Develop CFD models for new designs or modifications of aerospace systems to improve aerodynamic performance, fuel efficiency, and overall system reliability.
  • Conduct parametric studies to analyze the effects of various design factors such as geometry and operational conditions.
  • Validate simulation results by correlating CFD data with experimental wind tunnel or flight test data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, and thermal engineers, to optimize designs and achieve performance goals.
  • Assist in the development of new CFD methodologies, improving accuracy and reducing computational time for complex models.
  • Document and present analysis results, recommendations, and insights to engineering teams and project stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and software in CFD and aerospace engineering fields.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on fluid dynamics.
  • Strong proficiency in CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or Star-CCM+ (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, turbulence modeling, and thermodynamics.
  • Experience in mesh generation and refinement techniques.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++.
  • Knowledge of aerospace design principles and the impact of fluid flow on structural integrity and thermal behavior.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in CFD.
  • Experience in wind tunnel testing and experimental validation of CFD models.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) for large-scale simulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years industry CFD experience in the aerospace or defense industry, particularly in aircraft, spacecraft, or propulsion system development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced engineering environment.
