Shermco is seeking a Drives Technician
Drives Technician
Shermco Industries is accredited by NETA and has one of the largest field services divisions in the industry, representing many major manufacturers. We are looking for candidates with experience or aptitude for developing skills in the area of low and medium voltage variable frequency drives and soft starts. The ideal candidate is a factory-trained Drives Technician with automation experience who has been formally factory trained and certified by a major manufacturer for repair of low and medium-voltage Drive systems. This position is highly technical and hands on. It requires flexibility in critical thinking and troubleshooting as well as attention to detail in executing manufacturer recommended preventative maintenance.

- 2 Year Electrical Technical degree program; prefer a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
- Must be able to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods, and effectively communicate directly to customers and co-workers.
- Must have strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must be able to work SAFELY around high-voltage electricity.
- Excellent customer service and people skills, as you might be the single point of contact when onsite in most service situations.
- Ability to coordinate between multiple customer, vendor and manufacturer contacts to support job execution.
- Professional attitude and skills including being a self-starter, organized, motivated, and a problem solver with a positive personality and personal drive.
- Must be able to work frequently with other NETA technicians on a wide variety of equipment. The job will not exclusively be for troubleshooting drives.
- Start-up and commissioning, preventative maintenance, installation and repair services of complex AC low and medium voltage variable frequency drives systems (Allen Bradley, ABB, Teco, Toshiba, TMEIC, Siemens-Robicon, etc.) onsite at customer locations.
- Communicate regularly with customer on troubleshooting analysis and recommendations and obtain approval to implement recommendations.
- Successfully perform complex drives system work scope as a lead technician to customer's satisfaction
- Must be able to work overtime, and available for periodic overnight travel, for up to a few weeks at a time.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening
- Must be available to work overtime and travel out of town periodically.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations. Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam.
- Must have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
- Must be available for periodic domestic travel; international travel a plus and U.S. passport desired.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English.
