Summary
We have an immediate need for a Field Process Engineer who is responsible for ensuring the successful and effective completion of water treatment process demonstrations/pilot studies, including supporting pilot managers develop pilot protocols, preparing equipment, setting up pilot equipment at various sites, periodic site visits as needed, support executing pilots, provide training to onsite operators on operating the equipment , as well as supporting our production groups and field service team with process concerns and site visit needs.
Some of the work you will do:

  • Travel to jobsites to set up and start up piloting equipment. Train operators how to operate equipment
  • Conduct periodic site visits to optimize and perform routine technical tasks.
  • Decommission equipment when pilot study is complete.
  • Apply water treatment process knowledge and troubleshooting skills to technical and process issues to optimize results.
  • Prepare and test pilot equipment and supplies for pilot studies
  • Support product research and development activities.
  • Calculate and record chemical dosage rates, hydraulic loadings rates, etc.
  • Suggest modifications and improvements to pilot equipment to better meet customer needs and keep pilot units up to date.
  • Support Asset Manager by performing equipment maintenance when required and maintain equipment logs.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all safety and environmental regulations associated with the company’s pilot fleet.
  • Conducting basic laboratory analysis to verify pilot performance
  • Support full-scale equipment process start-ups and optimizations as necessary.
Here are the skills that you need some of which can be trained on the job:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or engineering related field.
  • Ability to complete domestic and/or international travel, up to 50%.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with good laboratory techniques and methods.
  • Familiar with process equipment such as pH, ORP, Temperature meters, etc.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a “hands-on” approach.
  • Understanding of basic hydraulics
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications including PFD & P&ID’s.
  • Basic understanding of proper handling of water treatment chemicals including coagulants, acids, basis, and oxidizers.
Here are the skills and qualifications that will set you apart:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biological, Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) and/or Fundamentals of Engineer (FE) Certification or higher
  • Experience with pilot and/or field work.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical, instrumentation and controls.
  • Licensing and/or certification in water or wastewater treatment
  • Ability to interpret test data and present in report format
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work at desk computer/phone system.
  • Some lifting may be involved, (50-70 lbs), specifically when in the warehouse area(s).
  • When at job sites will be required to inspect equipment. This may involve:

    • Bending/stooping/walking on ladders, walkways, catwalks, (may involve heights).
    • Exposure to elements; cold, heat, wet, and/or dark. May be in a safety harness.
    • When in fabrication shop, may involve utilizing hands in and around mechanical parts.
  • Comply with all safety regulations.
  • May be required to be clean-shaven for proper respiratory equipment.
