Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled BI and Reporting Engineer to join our dynamic team as a contractor. The ideal candidate will lead efforts in building, maintaining, and optimizing Power BI and SSRS reports while also supporting data pipelines and ETL processes. This role requires strong collaboration with both IT and business stakeholders to deliver accurate, insightful reports that drive data-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize interactive Power BI dashboards, visual reports, and paginated reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Collaborate with business teams to gather requirements and build reports that provide actionable insights.
Build and maintain data models, datasets, and ETL pipelines using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory.
Develop efficient SQL queries and stored procedures to support reporting and ETL processes.
Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity in all reporting and data models.
Support and guide users in utilizing Excel for data analysis and reporting, ensuring best practices are followed.
Monitor and troubleshoot Power BI, SSRS, and ETL performance issues and ensure timely resolution.
Implement and adhere to data governance and security protocols.
Document and provide training for both IT staff and business users on BI tools and data workflows.
Stay updated on emerging BI, ETL, and data technologies, and recommend improvements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in business intelligence, data engineering, or data analytics roles.
Strong experience with Power BI for building interactive visual dashboards and reports.
Proficiency in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for developing paginated reports.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, data analysis, and report generation.
Strong proficiency in SQL, SQL Server, and SSIS for ETL development.
Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar cloud-based ETL tools.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Attention to detail and a focus on data accuracy and integrity.
Nice to Have
Experience with cloud platforms like Azure Synapse or Azure SQL Database.
Knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M language for Power BI customization.
Familiarity with data warehousing and data lake architectures.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automating reports and ETL processes.
Certifications in Microsoft BI tools (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
