Summary:
The individual in this role will design, assemble, and maintain the mechanical, thermal, and electrical subsystems critical to the development of our quantum computing platform. This individual must be able to work on a wide scope of problems in a highly multidisciplinary team of physicists and engineers with a skill for balancing performance, cost, and schedule. The ideal candidate will bring professional engineering standards and best practices from previous work experience in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Design of electronic enclosures and mechanical fixtures using Autodesk Inventor.
- Create assembly plans and drawings for use in 3rd party manufacturing.
- Assembly of these high-reliability electrical and mechanical subsystems.
- Test, troubleshoot and repair of mechanical and electrical systems.
- No prior experience with quantum systems or lasers is required for this role.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ work experience in a professional engineering environment.
- Experience and proficiency in design of mechanical parts for CNC manufacturing.
- Experience with a major 3D CAD software, such as Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with machine shop tools and equipment.
- Proficiency in preparing mechanical drawings and coordinating with machine shops and/or other contract manufacturers.
- Proficiency with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years’ work experience in a professional engineering environment.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
- Experience with assembly of electrical systems.
- Experience with manual PCB SMT rework.
- Experience with wire and cable harness assembly.
- Experience with facilities management and/or laboratory design.
